Kaj and the Story is not a new artist launch. It is a resurrection.

First emerging from the Los Angeles rock scene as part of the Urban Rock Revolution, Kaj and the Story built a documented live presence through iconic venues including the World Famous Whisky a Go Go, House of Blues, and Los Globos, while earning early AFROPUNK recognition through the 2014 Battle of the Bands era.

Beyond the stage, Kaj also hosted the Rock n Park Leimert Park series, helping create space for live music, culture, community, and independent artistry in one of Los Angeles’ most important creative neighborhoods.

The project’s original sound was shaped with the help of Kaj’s Godfather, legendary John Barnes, alongside her mother Mortonette Stephens. Now, Kaj and the Story returns with AWAKENED, a cinematic Black alt rock-EDM single about memory, identity, survival, rebellion, and remembering your name.
